Macadamia nuts

 Daddy is feeling better.

I tutored today and her teachers said Kaia could join her class for the hour.  They were doing 'station' time when they get to choose what they want to do.  Kaia chose to listen to stories.  This the the Day and Night Monkey book.  She looked so old flipping through the pages on her own.

Then we went to the Blue Heron for playgroup.  They have a macadamia tree and on the way out we always collect as many nuts as we can find to take home.  Then Carl helps her open them.  They are VERY hard to open and they have to pound them open with a hammer and then chase the flying bits.  Totally worth it though, they are so good!!

This year Carl is working longer hours.  Kaia also has to get to bed earlier because she now goes to school.  So we do really notice that she sees him less.  With him being sick the past few days we have seen him even less.  Tonight he came home just in time to read her last bedtime story.  She was so happy to cuddle with him and Duck on a Bike is one of his favorites.  Even Theo joined in the huddle to get himself some Daddy time too.

This year we had been noticing the power has so much better than last year.  Then the elections finished and the power is worse than ever.  They have released a Load Shedding Timetable for Arusha.  We will lose power (for sure)...
Monday and Saturday during the day
Tuesday and Wednesday during the evening
so don't look for us on skype.  If we can plan ahead it really isn't so bad.  Life is actually quite nice by candlelight and without the hum of electrical appliances.

  1. Big question as to how you cook.....Is your stove have a propane gas heater?
I bet Kaia liked being with the big girls, listening to the story and 'reading' her book.

  2. Our stove is electric... that is the worst part!! But we did buy a kerosene camping stove and we have a spot in the yard for building a campfire. So we do have options... but it is always easier just to turn on the stove like a 'normal' person :)
